 ABOUT US

Nestled on the scenic North Fork of Long Island, our small family farm is a labor of love, rooted in a deep respect for the land and our livestock. Since 2016, we have been dedicated to raising Katahdin and Dorper sheep, and each year we expand the diversity of our offerings to reflect the seasons and our commitment to quality.
From early spring, when lambs are born, to late fall, when they are market-ready, our sheep thrive on pasture. During the winter months, our animals are carefully supported with locally sourced hay and grain, ensuring they are always raised with respect, care, and appreciation.
Beyond producing healthy, pasture-raised lamb, our farm prioritizes regenerative grazing practices that promote soil health and create thriving habitats for native pollinators. We believe in the reciprocal relationship between people and the land—nurturing the earth so it, in turn, can nurture us.

OUR SHEEP

Picture
Our growing flock includes both Katahdin and Blackheaded Dorper sheep, two exceptional hair sheep breeds known for their high-quality meat and lack of need for shearing.

Katahdin sheep were developed in Maine during the 1950s by Michael Piel, who sought to create a hardy, low-maintenance meat sheep that could thrive in diverse climates. Named after Mount Katahdin, Maine’s tallest peak, these sheep are a blend of several breeds, including African Hair Sheep, which contribute to their resilience and natural shedding coat.

The Blackheaded Dorper, originating in South Africa during the 1930s, was bred to withstand harsh, arid conditions. A cross between Blackheaded Persian sheep and Dorset Horn sheep, this breed combines excellent adaptability with the ability to produce larger, meatier animals. Their rich history reflects a focus on creating a robust breed capable of thriving in challenging environments.

Both Katahdins and Dorpers are renowned for their mild, tender meat, making them a perfect fit for our pasture-raised and sustainable farming practices.

OUR DOGS

Meet the heartbeat of our farm! 🐾

Tilly, our main sheepdog and a remarkable McNab Shepherd, is the foundation of everything we do. With her unmatched speed, agility, and wisdom, she leads our flock with confidence and grace. Our farm is truly built around her boundless energy and dedication.

Maggie, our sweet English Shepherd, is still finding her stride in sheep work, but she’s already the reigning queen of snuggles and farmyard mischief. While she trains to join Tilly in her duties, Maggie’s protective instincts shine as she keeps a watchful eye on our farmyard.

And then there’s Ozzy, our newest family member—a stunning Maremma Sheepdog with an important job: guarding our flock. He’s bonded beautifully with our sheep and adds a sprinkle of joy and silliness to our daily routines.
Together, these three bring energy, love, and life to our farm. 🐑❤️🐶
